- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set this aside.
- In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the softened butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Beat in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly.
- Arrange the sliced peaches over the top of the batter.
- In a small bowl, mix the 2 tablespoons of melted butter and 2 tablespoons of brown sugar for the topping. Drizzle this mixture over the peaches.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
