Method
- Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and cook for about one minute until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.
- Whisk in the flour. Cook this mixture, stirring constantly, for one minute to cook out the raw flour taste.
- Gradually whisk in the milk until the mixture is smooth. Continue to cook, stirring often, until the sauce thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 3 to 4 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the shredded mozzarella cheese, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Use this sauce immediately on your pizza dough.
Notes
If the sauce becomes too thick while cooling, you can thin it slightly by stirring in a teaspoon of milk or water until you reach your desired consistency.
