Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¾ cups buttermilk
  • ½ cup 1 stick unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 cup cooked ham diced
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder optional
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper optional

Method
 

Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F).
    Melt the butter
    1. Place butter in your baking dish
    2. Let it melt in the oven, then remove
    Prepare the dough
    1. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt
    2. Add buttermilk and stir gently until combined
    Add fillings
    1. Fold in diced ham and shredded cheese
    2. Mix lightly (do not overmix)
    Transfer dough
    1. Spread evenly into the buttered dish
    2. Dough will sit on top of melted butter
    Score the dough
    1. Cut into 9 squares before baking
    Bake
    1. Bake for 20–25 minutes
    2. Until golden brown with crispy edges
    Cool slightly & serve
    1. Let rest for 5 minutes before cutting
