Method
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry cake mix and the cold water. Mix briefly until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Spread the cake mix mixture evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Pour the two cans of strawberry pie filling directly over the cake layer. Spread gently to cover the cake layer as much as possible.
- Distribute the cubed cream cheese pieces evenly over the strawberry filling layer.
- Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top of the entire dish.
- Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is mostly set. The cream cheese pieces will melt into pockets.
- Remove the dish from the oven and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature with whipped topping, if desired.

You can substitute cherry or blueberry pie filling for the strawberry filling if you prefer a different fruit flavor.
